Fire Protection Assessment & Sprinkler Design Support

Zenith Accelerated Learning Academy is a public secondary school campus in Kissimmee, Florida, serving students in Grades 8–12 within the School District of Osceola County. The campus is around 80,000 sqft and serves 500 students and includes multiple classroom and support spaces used for daily educational operations. As part of renovation work at the facility, portions of the classroom drop ceilings were temporarily removed, requiring evaluation of the existing fire sprinkler arrangement and confirmation of how sprinkler protection should be restored after ceiling reinstallation.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire sprinkler assessment and design support for the project. EFP conducted site visits, reviewed existing sprinkler conditions, evaluated the proposed classroom sprinkler layout, and prepared a fire protection design drawing identifying the required sprinkler locations for code-compliant coverage.

EFP helped the project team resolve field questions in a practical way, confirming that sprinklers serving the occupied classroom areas should be placed in the designated locations after ceiling reinstallation. EFP also clarified that certain sprinklers located above the ceiling were not required where the concealed space was noncombustible. This engineering judgment helped the contractor avoid unnecessary work, maintain compliance with NFPA 13, and keep the school renovation moving forward with a clear fire protection approach.
