Your Storage Units proposed a new three-story, climate-controlled self-storage facility in Lake Wales, Florida. The project includes approximately 121,380 square feet of gross floor area, with about 40,460 square feet per floor, a drive-through loading area, a sales office, and storage units of various sizes. The building is designed as a fully sprinklered Group S-1 storage occupancy with a full fire alarm system.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire protection and fire alarm system design services to support the project through permitting and construction documentation. EFP prepared bid-level and permit-level fire sprinkler drawings, fire alarm drawings, specifications, hydraulic calculations, battery calculations, voltage-drop calculations, and coordinated design documents based on the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and lighting layouts.

For a large multi-story self-storage facility, the fire protection design needed to support both code compliance and practical construction coordination. EFP developed a coordinated wet-pipe sprinkler system and addressable fire alarm system approach for the storage areas, corridors, office/support spaces, elevators, stairs, and fire sprinkler monitoring features. The design also addressed fire service piping, sprinkler protection criteria, notification appliance layout, device addressing, and system interface requirements. This helped the project team establish a clear fire/life safety approach, reduce coordination issues during design, and provide the contractor with detailed documents for permitting, bidding, and installation.
