Building and Life Safety Code Consulting, Fire Protection and Permit Application Facilitation
GOFO’s automated sorting facility in Elkridge, Maryland, near Baltimore Washington International Airport, integrated two sorting and conveyor systems supplied by CIMC Pteris Global into an existing warehouse. The installation occupied approximately 90,000 square feet and required the proposed equipment and building modifications to be coordinated with applicable U.S. building and life safety code requirements.
Engineering Fire Protection provided comprehensive building and life safety code consulting, helping the project team evaluate local requirements and adjust the design to meet applicable U.S. codes. EFP prepared coordinated permit documents addressing fire protection, life safety, electrical, and structural requirements, and facilitated the building permit application. The review considered equipment platforms and access, exit arrangements, and the effect of the sorting systems on existing sprinkler coverage.
EFP guided the client through local jurisdiction requirements, coordinated closely with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and addressed plan-review comments. By preparing and advancing the permit documents and application, EFP supported timely permit approval and helped the client maintain the planned construction schedule.
