JW Fulfillment DFW Inc. planned to install new high-piled racking systems within a large existing distribution warehouse in Brookshire, Texas. The facility includes approximately 726,000 square feet of warehouse storage area with additional business/support space, and is used for product storage and distribution serving online retailers. The proposed rack storage included common e-commerce commodities such as clothing, consumer electronics, and office furniture.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire code consulting and permit support services to help the client move from planning through approval. EFP reviewed the existing sprinkler system documentation, evaluated the proposed commodity classifications and storage arrangement, prepared a fire sprinkler system and commodity analysis, developed high-piled storage / life safety drawings, and submitted the permit package on behalf of the business.

The project required confirming that the existing warehouse fire protection features could support the proposed racking configuration without unnecessary sprinkler system redesign. EFP evaluated the storage height, rack arrangement, aisle layout, flue spaces, fire department access, travel distance, exit access, and ESFR sprinkler system capability. EFP also coordinated with the Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office, responded to review comments, helped navigate permit expectations, and supported inspection scheduling through final approval and certificate of occupancy. This full-service approach helped the client reduce permitting uncertainty, avoid unnecessary redesign, and move forward with warehouse operations on schedule.
