PepsiCo operates a beverage distribution warehouse in Orlando, Florida, supporting the storage and distribution of non-alcoholic beverages and bottled water products. The project involved a warehouse reconfiguration within an approximately 55,000-square-foot Group S-1 storage area, including relocation of existing racks and installation of new single-row, double-row, and multi-row rack storage systems.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire protection and life safety consulting to support the proposed racking configuration change and related building modifications. EFP high-piled storage/life safety drawings, emergency lighting design drawings and evaluated the existing warehouse fire and life safety features, and reviewed the proposed storage arrangement against applicable code requirements.

EFP helped the project team understand the fire protection implications of the warehouse modifications and provided recommendations during the design phase to support a smoother permit review. Through field survey, investigation and calculations of the existing sprinkler system, EFP confirmed the capacity of the existing ESFR sprinkler system. This helped the client document code compliance, avoid unnecessary fire protection upgrades, and move the project through permitting with reduced uncertainty and fewer disruptions.
