Project Name

Service

Fire/Life Safety Code Consulting & Combustible Dust Hazard Analysis

Ho Toy Noodles operates within an existing industrial building in Stoughton, Massachusetts. The overall building contains approximately 114,000 square feet, with Ho Toy Noodles occupying about 40,200 square feet for noodle manufacturing, food processing, packaging, cooler areas, storage, and related support spaces. The facility is part of a multi-tenant industrial building with adjacent storage, manufacturing, and warehouse uses.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire/life safety code consulting to help the owner respond to concerns raised during a walkthrough with the Stoughton Fire Department and Stoughton Building Department. EFP reviewed existing conditions, did the walk through with the AHJ, documented the AHJ comments, evaluated means of egress, tenant separation, hazardous materials coordination, fire sprinkler coverage, storage limitations, and other fire/life safety issues affecting the facility.

A major concern involved the use of flour in noodle production, which introduced a combustible dust hazard. EFP provided combustible dust mitigation analysis to help the client understand how flour-handling operations, equipment, housekeeping, ignition source control, building compartments, and fire protection features should be evaluated and managed. This work helped the owner establish a clear path for addressing AHJ concerns, improving life safety, coordinating with other tenants, and planning practical fire protection upgrades without making unnecessary assumptions about the existing building.
