Doer Signs planned to operate a customized signage fabrication facility within an approximately 32,000-square-foot tenant space in Orlando, Florida. The facility supports sign manufacturing operations, including material cutting, welding, assembly, finishing, spray painting, staging, and limited storage of raw materials and finished products. The proposed operations involved a mix of metal materials, plastic panels, wood products, LED components, paints, solvents, LP-gas, and other materials commonly associated with signage fabrication.

Engineering Fire Protection, LLC provided fire protection, hazardous materials, and dust hazard code consulting services to help the client evaluate whether the existing building and fire protection features could support the proposed use. EFP conducted a site survey, reviewed the existing sprinkler system conditions, evaluated the proposed manufacturing processes and material storage arrangement, and prepared signed and sealed fire protection and hazardous materials code analysis letters.

EFP’s work helped the client address several important fire/life safety considerations, including occupancy hazard classification, sprinkler system adequacy, commodity classification, storage limitations, hazardous material quantities, flammable and combustible liquid storage, LP-gas use, and combustible metal dust concerns. By providing a clear engineering evaluation and practical code compliance strategy, EFP helped the client understand the fire protection requirements for the new facility, mitigate dust hazard, and avoid unnecessary system upgrades, identify operational controls, and support the tenant fit-out and permitting process with greater confidence.
